The rumors are true – the infamous SSII Clone is now available for sale! This Scout has been literally a lifetime in the making and we’re stoked to have finally made it a reality. Scroll on for more details on this one-of-a-kind build.
It started with 10 years of painstakingly gathering original SSII parts. The correct door inserts, soft doors, fender flares, etc. Then the time came and we were able to pursue one ethically sourced rescued Scout II. The Scout was original and had the right patina to save.
Born in the Desert
The SSII, or Super Scout II, was developed in the mid 70s as a performance optioned Scout inspired by the world’s most grueling offroad race, the Baja 1000. It’s been a dream of ours to build for nearly two decades.
We restored the inner sheetmetal and painted the interior with the original Grenoble Green paint. Then proceeded to install the original SSII parts on to their new host.
A Collaboration with Friends
Repeat collaborators and like-minded pals, Iron & Resin, partnered with us once again to bring their unique expertise in style and textiles for this amazing build. The very same 14oz. waxed canvas and chrome tanned buffalo leather in the SSII Clone was used to produce a limited run of apparel and work gear, featured in the Iron & Resin shop in Ventura, CA.

Built to Drive
Mechanically, we performed a complete service and rebuild. This incredible build is adventure-ready and very tight. It’s super fun to drive and an example of some of the most unique patina you’ll find on a Scout.
